Starting Driver Pay Increase

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

STARTING DRIVER PAY INCREASED

Lincoln, NE (May 28, 2010) - Crete Carrier Corporation is pleased to announce a $.03 pay increase for new national drivers at Crete Carrier, Shaffer Trucking, and Hunt Transportation, Inc.. The pay increase will take effect on July 1, 2010.

As many other carriers were cutting their drivers' pay, reducing benefits and cutting back in other areas, we did not reduce existing driver pay. Crete Carrier maintained the valuable benefits important to our drivers and their families, continued to make profit-sharing contributions, and invested in new tractors, trailers and facilities. Due to our financial strength and strong customer base, we made no across the board driver lay-offs and continued to pay our drivers based on practical route miles. However, over the past two years, we did lower the starting driver pay rate.

Effective July 1, 2010, we are restoring $.03 of the starting driver pay reduction for new national drivers and $.01 of the pay reduction for new regional drivers. Additionally, for our existing drivers, we are increasing the maximum pay cap for national drivers to $.47 for Crete drivers and $.48 for Shaffer drivers. Crete Carrier, Shaffer Trucking and Hunt Transportation have also starting leasing on owner-operators again as well as hiring team drivers.

With the increase in demand for truckload capacity from our committed customers, drivers are needed immediately for all three divisions of Crete Carrier Corporation. Crete Carrier is the dry van segment; Shaffer Trucking is temperature controlled; and Hunt Transportation is flatbed and specialized. Restoring $.03 to the starting rate of new driver pay will help us provide the drivers needed to increase to meet our customers's needs and increase overall miles for all of our drivers.

"We appreciate the tough job our drivers do each and every day. Our drivers and our employees are our most valuable resource. Our desire has always been to provide our drivers the opportunity to earn a good living for themselves and their family. Restoring $.03 to the starting rate of new driver pay will help provide the drivers needed to increase our commitments to customers while improving miles, and as a result total pay, for all drivers," says Tonn Ostergard, President and CEO of Crete Carrier Corporation.
